Year 7 literacy and numeracy catch-up premium

What is Year 7 catch up funding?

Year 7 literacy and numeracy catch up funding is awarded to schools for those students not reaching the national average scaled score of 100 in either reading or maths at Key Stage 2. It is provided to all state funded schools with a Year 7 cohort. Manor Academy is determined to support students to ensure that core skills are developed. This is to embed success in English and Maths, but also so that students can be successful across a diverse and rich range of subjects with a core literacy and numeracy base.

What do we use the funding for?

The funding also contributes towards our delivery of:

  • Numeracy leaders – After school numeracy intervention programme.
  • Literacy leaders – After school literacy intervention programme.
  • Lexia and literacy withdrawal – to support students in the development and deployment of literacy skills.
  • Maths support (delivered by a specialist maths HLTA and withdrawal from a member of the SEND team).
  • Primary 2 week transition.
  • Additional Reading Lessons at KS3.

In 2019/20 the academy will receive £23,500.

The funding will be allocated as stated above and the progress of students is reviewed at each data collection.

Number of students below 100 NS % of Year 7
Maths 29 13
English (reading) 52 23

There were no national assessment taken by students at kS2 (SATs) for the end of the academic year 2019/20. For the academic year 2020/21 students that require additional support will be identified using reading ages and CAT4 testing.
