Due to the current government restrictions around social gatherings, you will know that we recently took the very difficult decision to cancel the Year 11 prom.  Given the uncertainty around how or when these restrictions will change, and the fact that venues are currently prohibited from hosting large gatherings, this decision was made because the health and well-being of our students is our prime consideration. We are fully aware of the disappointment that some students and parents/carers are feeling about this situation, and we are saddened that we have had to make this decision.

Although the prom has been cancelled, we already have other ideas and plans to support our Year 11 students and celebrate their work. If the government guidance changes about social gatherings, we would like to hold a red-carpet evening in the academy later in the autumn term, to celebrate and recognise our students’ achievements. Details of this will be published at a later date, subject to any changes to government guidance.

Leavers hoodies have already been purchased and distributed to many students.  As a goodwill gesture, we would now like to make the offer to reimburse the cost of the hoodie.  Please email [email protected] to let us know if you would like this cost refunded.

If you don’t already have a hoodie, we are happy to provide this to you free of charge.  Please contact us at the above address, with your name and the size required.

We would like to create a permanent keepsake for our wonderful Year 11 students.  To enable this, we have created an online yearbook, for students to add messages, which can be accessed here Online Yearbook

In the autumn term, we will use all the messages to create a printed book, which we will gift to students at the planned red-carpet event, if this is able to go ahead.  We would love to include your photographs too, so please send them to [email protected] making sure they have your name in the filename.

Yearbooks can capture what made your years in school special, enabling memories to flood back when revisited in years to come.  We’d love to see your thoughts on what stood out for you about your life as a student at Manor Academy– for example: your academic achievements, special friends, favourite teachers, memorable school trips, exciting events, musical or dramatic performances, enrichment clubs, sporting events – or anything else that reflects your experience at the academy and the time spent together with friends and staff, that you may want to reminisce about in years to come.

We recognise and support the fact that a number of Year 11 students may wish to take the opportunity to re-sit certain GCSE examinations, in order that they receive grades which reflect the exceptional and consistent hard work they have engaged in during their time at secondary school.  We will work in partnership with students and parents/carers to ensure that students are well supported in preparation for any re-sits that they wish to take, and will accommodate these resit examinations at Manor Academy.  We are already planning numerous ways in which we can assist in this preparation, as well as working closely with post-16 providers to ensure students are able to advance to the next stage of their educational journey.
