We firmly believe that all children, irrespective of their starting point, are entitled to a broad and ambitious curriculum. To that end, we are delighted to offer an innovative and knowledge-rich curriculum, which enables any student within Northern Education Trust to fulfil their potential and develop the all-important skills and qualities, which will serve them well in later life.
The curriculum is designed to give all students the opportunity to develop as enquiring individuals who feel valued and respected, so that they, in turn, learn to value those around them.
On this page you will find our Curriculum Statement of Intent for both our legacy and future models.
Please note that the legacy model is labelled 2019-2020 whereas the future model is labelled 2020-2021.
Students who have already started their GSCE qualifications will remain on our legacy curriculum. However, students in our current Years 7 and 8 and indeed all future incoming cohorts, will work within the framework as identified in the 2020-2021 documentation.
The curriculum overview documents should therefore be used in conjunction. For example, the Curriculum Overview (legacy) is applicable for our current students who have already started their GCSEs.
The Curriculum Overview (future) is applicable for our current Year 7 and 8 students (and of course, for all incoming cohorts).
The curriculum underpins the Northern Education Trust vision of ‘outcomes focused, child centred’.
Our curriculum delivers vital subject knowledge and skills, which are complemented by a raft of enrichment activities that broaden and extend the student experience. In addition to a focus on cross-curricular skills, we use the hidden curriculum to enhance wider personal development and promote positive attitudes to learning.
The hidden curriculum underpins our school culture and prepares students for life in modern Britain through the teaching of responsibility, respect, tolerance and acceptance in everything we do.
The curriculum at Manor Community Academy is personalised to meet the needs of all learners. Flexibility in the curriculum allows for adaptations to be made that are responsive to the needs of both individuals and groups of students as they progress through our academy.
If you would like any additional information about the curriculum offered at Manor Community Academy, please contact Mrs Claire Rand, Vice Principal.
